"An Ode To The Balcony" employs the imagery of Alpine architecture. Todays largely industrially produced balconies rarely display any regional features anymore. If they do happen to, these are usually references primarily servicing aesthetics and nostalgia. Thus, these balconies often exhibit characteristics of a completely different region to the one in which they are located. The stool and the cabinet take up this imagery and are an attempt to provide them with a new stylistic expression of form.
